Blue Is The Colour

Bathurst Grange Distillery has a long history in the Bathurst region. First established in 1823, the Grange sits on the lush Macquarie Plains, amongst clear country air and fresh mountain water from the majestic Blue Mountains, aspects of which give the spirits produced by the Distillery their unique flavours.

The Grange story is filled with famous characters, including Charles Darwin, hard work, and Aussie ingenuity, built into its walls, work sheds, and historic graveyard. Still today a working sheep farm of 400 acres, the Grange is now also home to a distillery.

Toby Jones has been working the family farm at the Grange with his father Ted since a teenager. Now, with his family, he is pursuing his dream to create premium spirits using ingredients grown on the farm.

The distillery building embodies a sense of old and new. The relic farm shed has been converted into a tasting room, showcasing the farm’s heritage origins, and many of the ingredients used in the spirits created are sourced from the farm or locally in the region.

Our featured gin this week is Bathurst Grange's Blue Mountain Gin. Inspired by the view of the Blue Mountains from the distillery window, Blue Mountain Gin has a distinctive blue hue, that very cleverly transforms in front of your eyes. Infused with mint and rosemary grown on the farm and native Australian pepperberry, to create a fresh, herbaceous gin with a smooth finish.

If you're in the area then we would highly recommend booking a distillery tour and tasting, where you will be try the full range of products on offer and chat to the distillers.
